Metanoia Fragments
As a child, whenever I was asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” my answers were always the same characters from the stories I adored, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid. I wanted to become them, to live inside their worlds of beauty, courage, and transformation. These dreams constantly shifted as I searched for who I truly was, a lifelong pursuit of metanoia, or spiritual and personal transformation.
In Metanoia Fragments, the characters I once admired are reimagined wearing the hijab, a symbol of faith, modesty, and renewal. This gesture represents my journey toward becoming a better Muslim, and a reminder that change begins from within. The hijab is not merely a garment, but a quiet declaration of identity and self awareness.
The artwork is composed of collaged fabric fragments, each piece cut, patched, and layered with meaning. Every cloth carries its own history, sentiment, and story, merging into a tapestry of memory and self discovery.
Metanoia Fragments is, ultimately, a reflection of who I had become, a mosaic of growth, faith, and the evolving self.
